"The House of the Rising Sun" is a folk song which tells of a life gone wrong in New Orleans. The most popular version was recorded by the English rock group, The Animals in 1964. The Animals were one of the best groups of the British Invasion. Unfortunately, The Animals didn't have a great songwriter. I think they would have been more successful if they had.

Dawn, This is WAY COOL on so many levels. This track is classic, I love seeing Hilton with his Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Gretsch Guitar, and Alan Price on a reverse key Vox organ. A couple of "Fan Facts Micky Most also produced Donovan, and Herman's Hermits.
The bass player Chas Chandler produced Jimi Hendrix, and Alan Price wrote the music for The 70's film O Lucky Man.
Paul, that awesome bit of classic rock triva! Thanx!!
Okay, so even though I don't profess to know alot of 60's stuff, I DO know this song. Who doesn't?
My hero when I was a kid was Eric Burden. To see him on stage on the Ed Sullivan Show was stunning.
I was a huge Eric Burden fan, when I was a kid. Sadly, I had collected only had one of his albums..
Dawn and Rory I saw Eric at the Hollywood Bowl in either 1967 or 68 / the bill was Sopwith Camel, The Sunshine Company, The Who, Eric and the New Animals. The Everly Brothers, and The Association. It was some night.
Wow!! What a night to remember..
