Steppenwolf: Born to Be Wild/ The Pusher.

"Born to Be Wild" is a rock song written by Mars Bonfire and made famous by the band Steppenwolf. It is sometimes thought of as the first heavy metal song, and the second verse lyric "heavy metal thunder" marks the first use of this term in rock music.

Song writer Bonfire, was previously a member of the Sparrows, the predecessor band to Steppenwolf, and his brother was Steppenwolf's drummer.

The song was released in 1968, but it was subsequently included in many albums and soundtracks. The first of these was the soundtrack for the movie Easy Rider (1969). Another Steppenwolf song from their first album, "The Pusher", was also used in the film.

A song from the Sparrows, who were a Canadian blues-rock band that existed in the 1960s, and which evolved out of Jack London and The Sparrow and later morphed into heavy rock group, Steppenwolf.

Dawn the song The Pusher was composed by the great Hoyt Axton who is best known for composing Joy To The World, and was a fine actor his mother wrote Heartbreak Hotel. His version of the song is even stronger and can be found on his Capital Records Lp.
