Cream/Deep Purple: I'm So Glad.

"I'm So Glad" was recorded by Cream on their first album, Fresh Cream, then later put on their last studio album Goodbye as a live performance.

Deep Purple version:

"I'm So Glad" was also recorded by Deep Purple in 1968 for their debut album Shades of Deep Purple. The Skip James-song itself starts after a medley consisting of excerpts from the instrumental arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov's classical Scheherezade. This medley named "Prelude: Happiness", stretches the song ove seven-minutes.

Dawn , I should never post before at least 3 cups of coffee. Thanks for this clip. I've never seen Eric playing a Gibson ES 335 guitar before.
This is the guitar that in the hands of Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour defined the West Coast LA sound in the 70's. Larry's nick name was Mr.335 and there is a classic tune Room 335 on his first Warner Bros album. You should post the live in Japan version of Room with both Lee and Larry, it smokes and they make it look soooo easy.

Dawn, this is one of my all time Larry Faves. The Lp was a Japanese import .
In the spirit of full disclosure I have to say that Larry and I were in the same jazz band in college, but not at the same time. He left before I got there in fall 1968 so i've been a fan since then. LAHC(LA Harbor College) had major musical talent in the 60's,besides Larry, The Sunshine Company, (the bass player and drummer later were part of Loggins & Messina) and Richard Carpenter's writing partner, John Bettis were all students there.
I 'm proud to say that I got to be good friends with the Sunsine's female singer Mary Nance after the group broke up, and Mary went back to school.
