Allman Brothers Band: Whipping Post.

"Whipping Post" is a song by The Allman Brothers Band. Written by Gregg Allman, the five-minute studio version first appeared on their 1969 debut album The Allman Brothers Band. From their debut record (1969) this is the Allman Brothers Band performing "Whipping Post" with the legendary Duane Allman on lead guitar, Greg Allman on keys, Dickey Betts guitar, Berry Oakley bass, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe Johanson on drums. What a wonderful step back in time to hear this song again. Possibly the best debut album ever produced. The whole band is awesome, but the most talented were the two who died young, Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. This is a classic that will remain popular forever.

OH course the most famous version of Whipping Post is found on the 2Lp set Live At The Fillmore East. BTW at one the the band was known as The Allman Joys and can you believe that June Lockheart had them play a gig .on the Lost In Space set .
