"Moonlight Drive" was one of the tracks on The Doors' second album, Strange Days. Although it was on the B-side (of "Love Me Two Times")."Moonlight Drive"'s defining feature was its off-beat rhythm and Robby Krieger's 'Bottle-neck' guitar which creates an eerie sound. The song is one of the first written by lead singer Jim Morrison, who wrote the lyrics while he was living on a rooftop in Venice Beach, California.

Dawn , one of my favorite Doors tunes,from (if I had to chose ) The Doors best sounding LP'. A few years ago as a gift I got a set of all the Doors LP's( except LA Woman) all look to have been first or second press runs. As a Audiophile this was hitting like hitting the Mother Lode 40 plus tear old Lp's in mint condition.
ReplyDeleteThis Lp's sound is not to be believed. A 40 plus year old Lp smokes any CD version I've ever heard. Credit the disc mastering by Ray Hagerty and most of all Bruce Botnick, who did all of the Doors engineering.

ReplyDeleteIn fact a dispute over the music rights to the song was one of the main reasons "Two-Lane" didn't get a video or DVD release for over 30 years!
