The good old TAMI Show at the Santa Monica Civic.
The Stones had to follow James Brown , who was blowing the place apart, so much so that the Stones locked the door to their dressing room to try and figure out if they were going to try and follow him. BTW one of the Go Go dancers is Teri Garr. The whole concert is now on DVD and is a must have

Dawn, about Mick's "stage moves; i had a black co worker in the late 60's who's cousin was a Ikekette. On a early tour the Stones were Ike & Tina Turner's opening act. She said Mick would stand in the wings backstage and watch Tina and the Girls every move, and a few shows later he would copy them. She thought Mick never forgave God for not making him black. When he told me this story I just cracked up.

Dawn, in 1967 my high school band did a gig at Jordon High School in Compton. After the concert our band director Mr Scott took a small group of us to meet the Jordon music teacher. Then Doug told us that he was a long time member (Sax) of James Brown Band. OMG we could not believe it.He was so gassed that a group of white teens got James Brown. I wish I could remember all the stories he told us.

I did get to see James at a private concert In Vegas before his death. We did not know if he would just go through the motions and "phone it in". NO WAY. Man did he still have it. In fact he got mad at the light and sound men and stopped dead in the middle of a song and refused to start over until the got it right. It took them about 5 minutes. His band was SOOOOOO Tight. As a guy who loves Funky Horn Bands I was in Funk Heaven . I have yet to meet any real musician who does not love James Brown.
